Arthritis

A rheumatic condition that is more prevalent among people who are above the age group of 60. However, owing to the sedentary lifestyle these days, even young people are getting affected by arthritis. The symptoms include stiffness, pain, swelling, difficulty in motion, etc.

Downward Facing Dog Pose/Adho Mukha Svanasana – Apart from stretching the spine fully, it increases body flexibility.

PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)

This disease is quite common among women especially when they are at the reproductive stage. Obese women can also suffer from PCOS. The occurrence of disease results from the over-production of male hormones from the ovaries. The symptoms include no periods or irregular periods, weight gain, excess growth of hair on the body and the face, ovarian cysts, and acne.

Thyroid

The thyroid is also known by the name, Adam’s apple. The metabolic activities of the body are regulated by the hormones produced by the thyroid glands. It is also responsible for proper digestive and heart function. But, a misbalance in the hormone levels can cause a lot of problems. The symptoms include weight gain, constipation, fatigue, puffy face, muscle weakness and more.

Fish Pose/Matsyasana – Since the thyroid gland is located at the front of the neck, this asana is ideal for keeping the thyroid gland stimulated as it stretches the neck.

Plough Pose/Halasana – This asana compresses the neck and triggers the thyroid glands.

Diabetes

Diabetes results from the body’s inability to respond or produce the hormone insulin. As a result of that, the glucose levels in the blood are elevated as well as abnormal carbohydrate metabolism. A sedentary lifestyle, lack of exercise, obesity, stress, etc. are some of the contributing factors towards diabetes. The symptoms include increased hunger, dry mouth, frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, blurred vision, and headaches.

Wheel Pose/Chakrasana – The pancreas cells are rejuvenated by this pose and the heart is also stimulated. The oxygen intake increases with gradual practice and the vertebral column is stretched.

Half Spinal Twist/Ardha Matsyendrasana – This pose is extremely effective when it comes to controlling and maintaining the blood sugar levels in the body.

Lower Back Pain

An increasing number of populations across the world are suffering from lower back pain thanks to desk jobs, weight gain, depression, no exercise, etc. etc. If not treated in time it can lead to more serious maladies like spinal arthritis, herniated disc, Spondylolisthesis, and Vertebral fractures. The symptoms include pain that gradually travels down to buttocks and legs, dull pain, pain increases after waking up, continuous abdominal pain and aggravates with longer hours of sitting.

Stomach Disorder/Indigestion

Stomach disorders can range from indigestion to bloating to constipation to acidity and more. Neglecting a stomach disorder, popping some pills and blaming it on acidity, is the general attitude of people.

However, over the course of time, a neglected stomach disorder can turn into something serious like gastroenteritis, Gallstones, Ulcerative Colitis, or something more critical like stomach cancer.  The symptoms of stomach disorder may include gas and bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and blood in the bowel.
