The skin is a sensitive organ and cold weather can be harsh on the skin. The chilly weather can dry the skin. It can also lead to cracking and flaking in in extreme cases eczema.

If you want to have soft and glowing skin in the cold season then you need to make sure that you take proper care of the skin. You should come up with a skin care regimen that is designed specifically for the chilly weather.

Here are some tips that will help in keeping the skin in best condition no matter how cold the weather gets.

Cleansing:

Cleansing is important for keeping the skin clean and glowing. The cleansing should be a part of the skin care in every season. There are a lot of cleaning products available in the market and you can use the one that suits you. You can simply use cold milk to cleanse the skin. Use cotton balls to remove the milk so that the skin stays moist.

Exfoliating with scrub:

Exfoliation is also something that should be done all year. In winter the skin becomes dry so you should limit the times you scrub the face. Daily scrubbing the face is not a good idea because it can cause abrasions and make the skin even drier. You should exfoliate on weekly basis and use a mild exfoliating scrub. It is better if you choose to use natural ingredients. The ingredients such as apple, honey, banana, etc. are an excellent choice as you can create their mixture with a mild scrub and apply on the face. Use warm water to wash off the scrub and pat it with the soft towel.

Never forget to moisturize:

Moisturizing is critical for soft skin so make sure that you do it regularly. Without moisture, the skin will become flaky and dry. If you are not a fan of products full of chemicals then you should look at the natural options. The ingredients such as olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil, etc. are effective moisturizers. You can also mix these oils with your usual lotion or cream. Gently massage it on the skin and the skin will absorb it. Do not forget to moisturize after taking a bath because after a bath the pores are open and it is easier for the skin to absorb the moisturizer.

Toning the skin:

Before moisturizing the skin, you should use a toner. Toning is not just for tightening the skin; it also prepares the skin for moisturizer by getting rid of the residual left by cleansing. But you should refrain from using a toner that has too many chemicals in it because it will end up disturbing the H levels of the skin.

Protection from the sun:

Just because its winter it does not mean that the sun rays are not going to harm the skin. The sun may be hiding behind the clouds but it always manages to sneak through the clouds which mean that the skin requires protection against UVB and UVA rays. It is essential that you apply sunscreen before going out so that the skin stays safe.

Avoid hot baths:

The hot baths seem like an excellent idea in chilly weather but soaking in the hot tub is not good for the skin. The heat of the water can break the lipids of the skin that will result in loss of moisture. Instead of the hot shower, you should take warm baths as they are warm and will not harm the skin. If the skin is becoming too dry then you should add baking soda and oatmeal to the warm bath as they will help in relieving the itchiness.

Use Face Packs:

There are a lot of kitchen ingredients that can help in keeping in best condition. The avocado face pack is an excellent choice because avocado contains moisturizing properties that will keep the skin and hair healthy. The mashed banana is also an effective moisturizing agent. After using mashed banana face pack, apply some honey and massage in circular motion and finish with a toner and you will have glowing skin. Aloe Vera and buttermilk are also great moisturizing agents.

These easy and affordable tips will help in getting rid of winter skin problems.
